Representatives from 30 tour operators and travel agencies signed a pledge to support responsible tourism, nature conservation, and wildlife protection during the training workshop "Responsible Tourism in Support of Nature and Wildlife Conservation”. The event was co-organized by People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) and the Responsible Tourism Club (RTC) at Cat Tien National Park from 11 to 12 December 2020.
Vien Dang Cong, a technical officer at WWF-Vietnam, had never taken a data-related course before. So, the Data Literacy Training organized by the Open Development Initiative (ODI) in collaboration with the People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) was his first exposure to data science. The training was held in two, one-week phases in July and October 2020 in Quang Ninh and Hanoi, Viet Nam.
Community-based tourism, with locals directly partaking in tourism products and service offerings, is slowly taking shape in Vietnam. According to the Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA), which listed the four villages, the initiative helps create jobs, reduce poverty, preserve cultural identity, and boost the country’s tourism landscape.
