Training on Monitoring and Planning for Tree Planting Activities under the GLAD Project
From March 17–20, 2026, within the framework of the Gia Lai Agroforestry Development Project (GLAD), PanNature, in collaboration with Face the Future, organized a training course on planning for monitoring and supervising tree planting areas in Gia Lai Province. The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of local field teams directly involved in implementing and tracking tree planting efforts.
The GLAD Project is funded by Greenchoice through Face the Future, and is managed and implemented by PanNature in collaboration with the Gia Lai Department of Agriculture and Environment and local partners. The project promotes distributed tree planting, agroforestry, and ecosystem restoration in ways that are ecologically appropriate and aligned with local livelihoods in Gia Lai.

The training brought together 20 participants, including commune-level technical collaborators and staff from local forest ranger units across several districts. Under the guidance of Face the Future expert Livio Pierro, participants were introduced to both theoretical and practical skills related to mapping and identifying planting sites, registering and managing data on planted areas, monitoring seedling survival and mortality rates, and using the digital tool ArcGIS Survey123 for field data collection.
In addition to classroom sessions in Pleiku City, participants also took part in field practice in Ia Grai and Chu Se, allowing them to apply the knowledge and tools directly in local conditions. The combination of technical instruction and hands-on practice helped improve the readiness of local teams to implement a more consistent and effective monitoring process across project sites.

Through this training, the GLAD Project aims to standardize data collection and management procedures, improve transparency, and enhance the quality of monitoring and decision-making throughout the tree planting cycle—from planning and implementation to follow-up monitoring and replanting. Strengthening the capacity of local implementation teams is expected to contribute to better data quality and support more sustainable and effective tree planting outcomes in the time ahead.
