Technology Companies Partner with PanNature to Reforest

On May 16, 2025, four leading technology companies — HP Vietnam, Synnex FPT, Digiworld Corporation, and Elite Technology Corporation — in collaboration with the People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature) to organized reforestation event, at the Hang Kia – Pa Co Nature Reserve, located in Dong Tan Commune, Mai Chau District, Hoa Binh Province, as part of the “For a Green Earth” campaign.

This initiative was carried out in celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity (May 22), emphasizing the increasingly significant role of the technology sector in environmental protection and sustainable development.

The event attracted the active participation of 183 delegates, including company representatives, local authorities, and community members—those who have a long-standing connection with the forests of this region. On this occasion, the participants planted 3,700 native trees, including Parashorea chinensis, Canarium spp., Michelia spp., Fagus spp., and Artocarpus tonkinensis, across approximately 6 hectares within the boundaries of the Hang Kia – Pa Co Nature Reserve to enhance its forest coverage.

PanNature and the forest rangers of Hang Kia—Pa Co Nature Reserve guide the plantation and maintenance process. They will work closely with the local community to monitor the plantation, ensuring high survival rates and long-term ecological benefits.

Covering an area of 5,258 hectares, the Hang Kia – Pa Co Nature Reserve lies at an altitude of 500 to 1,500 meters above sea level in Mai Chau district, Hoa Binh province. Established in 2000, the reserve protects a critical karst forest ecosystem, which is home to numerous rare and endemic species of gymnosperms and wildlife found in Vietnam’s Northwest. As a special-use forest, the reserve plays a key role in genetic conservation, biodiversity protection, and watershed preservation. Its complex topography and year-round cool climate provide favorable conditions for the growth of high-value native species such as Michelia, Chukrasia tabularis, black Canarium, and endemic bamboo species.

The “For a Green Earth” campaign was initiated by HP Vietnam on the occasion of its 30th anniversary in Vietnam, with the goal of planting 30,000 trees to restore 50 hectares of natural forest in Hòa Bình province in 2025, as part of PanNature’s “Greening the Forests” (Rung Xanh Len) program. The planting activity on May 16 marked the first phase of this campaign. HP Vietnam implements this initiative with the support of partners Synnex FPT, Digiworld, and Elite—technology companies that share a vision of aligning technological growth with sustainable development.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc – General Director of HP Vietnam, and Mr. Sung A Vang – Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Hang Kia – Pa Co Nature Reserve, are planting trees together.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Minh Duc, General Director of HP Vietnam, shared:

Over the past 30 years accompanying Vietnam’s development, HP has not only been deeply committed to the technology sector but also to the environment and the community. We believe that sustainable technological advancement cannot be separated from nature conservation. Today’s tree-planting campaign is part of our broader commitment to a greener future, where technology and nature coexist in harmony. Alongside this, we continue investing in sustainable technologies by prioritizing recycled materials, energy efficiency, and innovation that safeguards the environment. HP is committed to continuing its journey with communities and partners across Vietnam in a responsible and impactful way toward sustainable development. On the occasion of our 30th anniversary in Vietnam, let us spread the values of sustainability by protecting nature and nurturing the future—starting with the green seedlings we plant today.

Since 2022, the “Greening the Forests” (Rung Xanh Len) program, initiated by PanNature, has aimed to restore 500 hectares of natural forest in the transitional zone between Mai Chau district (Hoa Binh) and Van Ho district (Son La). This region holds high biodiversity value, serving as habitat for many rare and endangered species, and supports the livelihoods of ethnic Mong and Thai communities. The tree species selected for planting—such as Michelia spp., Chukrasia tabularis, Canarium spp., Baccaurea ramiflora, and Cinnamomum spp.—are all native species. They have the capacity to regenerate forest canopies and are well adapted to the distinct ecological conditions of the mountainous Northwest of Vietnam.

Mr. Trinh Le Nguyen, Director of the People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature), stated:

PanNature’s forest restoration efforts in 2025 are being joined and supported by a number of businesses operating in Vietnam, especially HP and its supply chain partners. This is not merely a tree-planting activity, but a vivid demonstration of the increasingly prominent role that businesses play in environmental protection and ecosystem restoration. In the face of accelerating climate change and ecosystem degradation, strong commitment and concrete actions from the private sector not only contribute to the realization of sustainable development goals but also serve as a powerful source of inspiration for the wider community and other stakeholders. When businesses actively engage in environmental initiatives, it not only reflects corporate social responsibility but also creates opportunities to generate long-term value by regenerating natural resources and building a brand identity aligned with sustainability.

In the context of intensifying climate change and worsening ecosystem degradation, the proactive participation of the private sector, particularly technology companies, signals a positive shift in development thinking. By planting a single tree today, businesses contribute to laying the foundation for a future where technology and the environment progress together, for the benefit of people and the planet.

The “Greening the Forests” program, initiated by PanNature in 2022, aims to restore 500 hectares of natural forest in the transitional area between Mai Chau district (Hoa Binh) and Van Ho district (Son La) over a 10-year period (2022–2032). This forest corridor is regarded as a vital “green lung” of the Northwest region and provides essential habitat for the critically endangered white-cheeked gibbon (Nomascus leucogenys), along with numerous endemic species of flora and fauna. However, increasing pressure from resource exploitation and development has led to the progressive degradation of this fragile ecosystem.

The “For a Green Planet” campaign was launched as an initiative by HP Vietnam, with the collaboration of partners Synnex FPT, Digiworld Corporation, and Elite Technology Corporation, aiming to promote a spirit of green living and sustainable development across the business sector and society at large. Through this campaign, the participating parties join forces to contribute to efforts addressing forest degradation, promoting natural ecosystem restoration, protecting biodiversity, and supporting local livelihoods in areas where forests are not merely resources, but an integral part of cultural heritage and community life.
