Green Livelihoods Workshop in the Kon Ha Nung Plateau World Biosphere Reserve
On September 29, 2025, PanNature in collaboration with the Southern Institute of Ecology/NTFP-EP Vietnam, the Institute of Advanced Technology, and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Gia Lai Province, organized the workshop “Green Livelihoods in the Kon Ha Nung Plateau World Biosphere Reserve.”
The workshop was co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Gia Lai Province, and Mr. Luu Hong Truong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Advanced Technology. The event brought together representatives from provincial departments, research institutions, social organizations, forest management units, enterprises, and local communities in the project area.
The workshop featured several thematic sessions focusing on sustainable development in the Kon Ha Nung Plateau. Representatives from PanNature presented on the biodiversity values of the Kon Pne natural forest, which plays a vital ecological role within the Kon Ha Nung Plateau World Biosphere Reserve.
Speakers from partner organizations also shared practical models and experiences, including climate-resilient agricultural practices in Kbang District, market access for clean agricultural products through the PGS (Participatory Guarantee System), and deforestation-free agricultural production aligned with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). In addition, community representatives from Dak Rong Commune presented real-world experiences from local livelihood initiatives linked to forest conservation.
During the plenary discussion, participants offered insightful recommendations to further promote the successes achieved, replicate green livelihood models, and enhance multi-stakeholder cooperation for sustainable forest management in the region.
The workshop not only served as a platform to review project outcomes but also as an opportunity to foster dialogue and partnership toward harmonizing economic development with nature conservation. These efforts contribute to preserving the ecological, cultural, and social values of the Kon Ha Nung Plateau — one of the most biologically diverse areas in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
