Workshop on Biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions for Development in Northern Mountains
On October 21st, 2025, PanNature in collaboration with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) organized the workshop “Biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions for Development in the Northern Mountains” in Thai Nguyen. The event aimed to create a dialogue platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing experiences, and discussing the current status, orientations, and solutions for biodiversity conservation in Northern Vietnam’s mountainous provinces.
The workshop brought together government representatives, experts, scientists, civil society organizations, and local stakeholders to assess the current state of biodiversity conservation and propose orientations to promote the application of Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for sustainable development in the region.
Discussions during the workshop focused on three main themes:
- Reviewing the current situation and identifying challenges in biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration in the northern mountainous areas;
- Proposing and discussing Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to restore ecological corridors, enhance climate resilience, and improve community livelihoods;
- Promoting regional coordination mechanisms and effectively integrating NBSAP (National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan) and GBF (Global Biodiversity Framework) targets into local policies.
Key insights and recommendations from the workshop will contribute to the development of a policy brief and action plan for the 2025–2030 period, aiming to strengthen biodiversity conservation and foster sustainable development in Northern Vietnam’s mountainous regions.
