On August 8, 2025, in Pha Luong village, Chieng Son commune, Van Ho district, Son La province, the \u201cLeaves for Forest Restoration 2025\u201d campaign was successfully launched with the participation of local communities, forest rangers from Forest Protection Unit XVI and Xuan Nha Nature Reserve, border guards from Chieng Son Border Post, partners, and volunteers.<\/p>\r\n

The campaign is an initiative by Vietnam Airlines and MoMo, with technical support, implementation, and monitoring provided by PanNature. It is part of the partners\u2019 joint effort to restore forests in Northwest Vietnam, supporting PanNature\u2019s long-term \u201cGreening the Forests\u201d program (Rung Xanh Len).<\/p>\r\n

This year\u2019s campaign planted 60,000 native trees \u2013 including Michelia mediocris, Canarium tramdenum, Parashorea chinensis, Sindora tonkinensis, Cinnamomum cassia, and Castanopsis spp<\/em>. \u2013 across nearly 100 hectares of protection forest around Xuan Nha Nature Reserve.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cGreening the Forests\u201d, launched by PanNature in 2022, aims to restore 500 hectares of natural forest linking Mai Chau (Hoa Binh) and Van Ho (Son La) over a 10-year period (2022\u20132032). This forest belt is a vital \u201cgreen lung\u201d of Northwest Vietnam and an important habitat for the endangered white-cheeked gibbon and many endemic species. Since 2022, with the support of businesses, partners, and communities, PanNature has planted more than 180,000 trees, restoring over 280 hectares of forest.<\/p>\r\n

The event showcases the effectiveness of multi-stakeholder collaboration between businesses, conservation organizations, local authorities, and communities in forest restoration. These efforts will be followed by monitoring, maintenance, and periodic assessments to ensure sustainable forest growth and the long-term conservation of biodiversity in Northwest Vietnam.<\/p>\r\n
