{"id":3398,"date":"2019-02-13T23:53:59","date_gmt":"2019-02-13T16:53:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nature.org.vn\/en\/?p=3398"},"modified":"2019-04-08T15:16:18","modified_gmt":"2019-04-08T08:16:18","slug":"pannature-greenid-environmental-heroes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nature.org.vn\/en\/pannature-greenid-environmental-heroes\/","title":{"rendered":"PanNature, GreenID: Environmental Heroes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vietnam is paying a heavy price \u2013 the increasing costs associated with soil, land and water pollution &#8211; for robust economic growth.<\/p>\n<p>Coal-fired thermopower, which has the biggest impact on climate change, continues to be developed in Vietnam, which is also facing challenges in protecting biodiversity and forest resources, including the effects of other countries\u2019 activities like hydropower dams on the Mekong River.<\/p>\n<p>In such conditions, activities carried out by environmental organizations play an increasingly important role.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PanNature\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2018, the 13-year-old organization spent most of its time on policymaking activities, participating in compiling policies on forest protection and nature conservation within the framework of the 2017 Forestry Law.<\/p>\n<table class=\" alignright\" style=\"width: 300px; background-color: #c3f7ab;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>PanNature believes that in order to protect forests and biodiversity, people, community and social organizations need to have the right to join forest management activities.\u00a0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>PanNature believes that in order to protect forests and biodiversity, people, community and social organizations need to have the right to join forest management activities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To protect the benefits of disadvantaged groups, PanNature also urged other parties such as community and local organizations to join the negotiations for the VPA\/FLEGT (Voluntary Partnership Agreements\/ Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade) between Vietnam and the EU.<\/p>\n<p>PanNature also touches on regional matters.
