{"id":1024,"date":"2013-04-24T13:32:58","date_gmt":"2013-04-24T06:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nature.org.vn\/en\/?p=1024"},"modified":"2013-04-27T13:41:12","modified_gmt":"2013-04-27T06:41:12","slug":"pannature-joins-conservation-groups-to-honor-outstanding-journalists-and-law-enforcement-officers-for-wildlife-conservation-efforts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nature.org.vn\/en\/pannature-joins-conservation-groups-to-honor-outstanding-journalists-and-law-enforcement-officers-for-wildlife-conservation-efforts\/","title":{"rendered":"PanNature joins conservation groups to honor outstanding journalists and law enforcement officers for wildlife conservation efforts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Hanoi, April 22, 2013<\/strong> <\/em>\u2013 Today Education for Nature \u2013 Vietnam (ENV), under the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)\u2019s ARREST Program, hosted Vietnam\u2019s first national awards ceremony to honor five excellent individuals for their outstanding contributions to wildlife protection.<\/p>\n<p>The Outstanding Service in Wildlife Protection Awards Ceremony, held at the Hilton Hanoi Opera hotel, recognized three law enforcement officers and two journalists, who were selected from more than 60 nominations received during 2012.<\/p>\n<p>A panel of judges with representatives from the U.S. Embassy, ENV, International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature), TRAFFIC, and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) selected the five award winners:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mr. Tran Thanh Binh \u2013 Head of Lam Dong Forest Protection Department<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Nguyen Van Duong &#8211; Deputy Head of Environmental Crime Prevention, Quang Ninh Police<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Hoang Hai Van \u2013 Journalist with Thanh Nien Newspaper<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Lam Hieu Nghia \u2013 Team Leader of Team Two, Division of Environmental Police, Ho Chi Minh City Police<\/li>\n<li>Mr. Nguyen Duy Tuan \u2013 Journalist, VietnamNet Online Newspaper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe are very proud to recognize these five individuals today,\u201d said Ms. Vu Thi Quyen, Executive Director and Founder of ENV. \u201cOn any given day, the situation in Vietnam can look rather bleak for wildlife, but these award winners are some of our most valuable partners in the movement forward towards a better future for Vietnam\u2019s wildlife.
