PanNature and Vietnam Administration of Forestry Signed Cooperation Program

On the 5th January 2016 in Hanoi, PanNature and Vietnam Administration of Forestry (VNFOREST) signed a cooperation program for implementing joint activities.

According to the agreed upon plan, PanNature and partners will cooperate on numerous activities to support  VNFOREST in implementing evidence-based research for the proposed Forestry Law, which will replace the Law on Forest Protection and Development of 2004. PanNature will also work with VNFOREST and other partners to facilitate the establishment of the Vietnam’s Forest Owners Association.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ha (Deputy Director General of VNFOREST) and Mr. Trinh Le Nguyen (Executive Director of PanNature) signed the cooperation plan during the 10th Year Anniversary of PanNature on the 5th January 2016.

The cooperation program focuses on five main areas of activities: Supporting establishment of the Vietnam’s Forest Owners Association; Providing evidence and inputs for the Forestry Law;  Contributing toward a better policy framework for Payment for Forest Environmental Services (PFES);  Piloting two forest collaborative management (co-management) models in the Central Highlands; Carrying out field research on current types of customary forests of ethnic communities; Developing and implementing a field conservation project in the Central Highlands. 

The cooperation plan will be implemented during 2016, and PanNature and VNFOREST will re-evaluate all activities when planning for 2017.
